Black History Month

Hello NACS Family,
The months seem to be running at a pace that I can’t keep up with. Mercy! January ended with MAP testing for our students, along with quite a chill in the air for all of us. As we move into February, we are looking forward to two big events.
This year, the middle school students, grades 5-8, will be attending Outdoor Education from February 10-13. It’s been a few years since we’re attended; so we are really looking forward to this great adventure.
The next big thing on our agenda is our “I Love You Breakfast.” This event will take place here at the school on February 21. Many hands make light work; so we are calling on our parents who are able to help us with this endeavor. Information for this event was sent out last week, but you will find another copy attached to this newsletter.
Since this is Black History month, I would be remised if I did not leave you with a bit of trivia concerning Black History.
Did you know:
W.E.B. Du Bois was the first African-American to get a PhD from Harvard?
Madam C.J. Walker was the first black self-made millionaire?
Garrett Morgan invented the three-light traffic signal in 1923?
Alexander Miles invented the automatic elevator door in 1887?
Lewis Latimer produced a carbon filament for the light bulb in 1881?
