This Week's Green Note - September 25, 2022

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

Where are the Reapers?

Let us be labors with Christ.

Hello NACS family,

You probably could not tell that at 9:00 p.m. on September 21st, our Autumn season started. Those of us from the North know this as a time to watch as all the trees change into the beautiful colors of gold, red. yellow, and purple. It is a time when we start to feel a slight chill in the air. We pull out the warm sweaters, and hot chocolate becomes our drink of choice.

If you have not experienced this amazing transformation of the seasons, I encourage you to take the time and travel to the mountains of Georgia, Tennessee, or the Carolinas and see the awesomeness of our creator God.

In the Bible this was a very important season, known also as harvest. As a matter of fact, there are over 150 verses that address this event. It was a time when what was planted was gathered and shared with the community. This was a joyous time, a time for celebration.

Isiah 9:3 tells us, “You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.” But, I believe my favorite verse concerning harvest is, Matthew 9:38 which says, “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. The harvest is indeed plentiful but the laborer's are few.”

This season let us celebrate! With seasonal colors? Yes! With thanksgiving, yes! With open hands and willing hearts, yes! But more, so much more than that. Let us tell someone else of the bountiful blessings God has bestowed on us through his precious son, Jesus Christ. Let us be labors with Christ.

NOTE: With the threat of Hurricane Ian hovering, please remember that school closings for NACS will be aligned with Collier County Public Schools. If they are closed, so are we. You will be informed via text of any closings. Let us pray for the safety for our state and families.

Weekly Scripture

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9: 36-38
